Having been interested in feminism from a peripheral point of view until recently I am keen on reading more on the subject. What can you recommend as a really sound starting point on the subject? I am going to the conference next week and will have about £30 to spend.

TIA

The Equality Illusion by Kat Banyard
Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine

for a start!

there have been a couple of threads on the subject but one of them went mental and turned into a 1000-posts-er on transexualism.

the book study threads are quite handy for looking at what people are reading, too; also between each monthly book study there's a thread where people discuss which one to do next.

one thing I would say - there have been 3 recent books, The Equality Illusion, Living Dolls and Reclaiming the F-Word, which cover much of the same ground, so if you have limited money don't get all 3. The Equality Illusion was my favourite but the others were good too.
