I think Chortle are serious here....(I really hope it's a joke though)

Yeah, it's weird how there is this 'thing' that women aren't funny. Any comedy panel show will illustrate that. There is NEVER (well, nearly never, i'm sure there is one exception!) more than one woman on a panel of say 6 and they don't get much air time.

Have you noticed though, like on mock the week that they way to get edited in is to shout over everyone else to get your joke in. I think this is why women don't feature so much because they're not as aggressive.

I don't think that article is a joke because it seems they have done a little survey and are 'reporting' the results of it. It isn't a very good analysis though because it doesn't consider why this appears to be the case.

They have a token women on comedy panel shows and I have never seen two women.

However, comedy panel shows rely on the comedians being very aggressive to get their jokes heard which might put off female comedians even entering the "profession".

I saw something once saying that both women and men tend to laugh more at men than women, something to do with subconsciously flirting women and male bonding I think.
But anyway it was saying that although men are not necessarily funnier people are more inclined to laugh at them.

"although men are not necessarily funnier people are more inclined to laugh at them."

That makes sense Pesha :)

The only panel show I've ever seen make an effort to have male and female guests in equal measure was The Bubble on BBC.
