Breast Cyst

Hi I just wanted a bit of a chat and advice with anyone who has experienced similar.

I found a lump in my breast a few months ago, I had previously had breast uplift surgery and an ultrasound scan confirmed an oil cyst. I was advised that this may have been caused by my surgery, they advised they will just leave it and it doesn’t need any treatment, I asked about draining it but they said no. The cyst is next to my areola, it’s marble sized very mobile and smooth and quite firm, it is near the surface so I can pinch it and pull it away in my skin from the breast tissue. Now a few months later I feel it has grown slightly and became quite tender. It’s causing a dull ache around the area and is painful to touch. I went back to the GP who examined me and reassured me that she isn’t concerned at all but she will refer me again to the breast clinic. I really would like it removed/draining. I just don’t like the fact it is there, it’s uncomfortable and I would like to illuminate the possibility of it growing bigger and causing more problems. Has anybody ever had a breast cyst removed or drained? And if so how did you advocate for yourself as I felt last time I mentioned it I was quickly dismissed.

thanks x

I had one drained last year. They use a long needle , it's a bit uncomfortable but not too bad. It was bit tender ( probably from me prodding it ) and they drained and biopsied it. I don't have to push though, the breast clinic just did it there and then
