Having an ovarian cyst removed in a few weeks. I would be really grateful for others’ experiences in how long recovery took (back to work / exercise etc) and also if there are any tips for a speedy recovery?
thank you!

I've had two removed, One was small and done by keyhole surgery. The "wound" was tiny but because they have to push all your organs around to gain access, I felt pretty bruised and knocked about for about 5 days. I was able to drive with some discomfort.

The other was removal of a large, twisted and badly infected dermoid as an emergency. 1 week on women's surgical, six more weeks off work. Not allowed to drive.

So it varies hugely. Don't plan anything for the following week. Make sure you have pain killers, and take it slowly. I hope it goes well.

I had a very large (but completely hidden) dermoid cyst removed, along with my ovary and fallopian tube as they had been strangulated/enveloped/squashed by the cyst.

It was unexpected as I had gone in for a prolapse repair and the cyst and cyst damage is what they found instead!

My experience of recovery was similar to @Meadowfinch- I had 5 weeks off work and couldn’t drive. It was a similar recovery to a hysterectomy.
