Still feeling sensitive after a cleared UTI, is this normal?

i need some reassurance or advice, I’m feeling very anxious. I had a UTI beginning of the month, I was peeing 6-10 times every half hour, burning when I peed, they saw white blood cells / trace blood and I ended up on two rounds of nitrofuratin, however you spell it.

its been two weeks since I stopped the antibiotics and im mostly ok, but I still feel somethings not 100%? I’m now hugely aware of it down there and it feels almost sensitive? Not painful. Almost like nerves are a bit sensitive? I went to GP again after finished antibiotics, urine was confirmed clear but this could be residual inflammation which is very slow to go. I can’t explain it. I’ve been extremely worried I will have another uti or it will come back and every little feeling makes me panic.

I think because when I had a uti over a decade ago, I took the antibiotics, it cleared up within two days and that was it. This time it took two rounds, it wasn’t ever severe in terms of pain but the urgency to go and burning was bad. Pelvic pressure is gone, urgency mostly gone and not going every 2 seconds and back to normal rate mostly but I’m just hyper area of my pelvic / vaginal area

I don’t feel it’s worth going to gp as not sure what to say or what they can even do, is this health anxiety? I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense.

This is what has helped me post UTI . Cut out garlic, onions, tomatoes, any fizzy drink, caffeine, citrus fruit, alcohol as these are all things that will irritate your bladder. I drink Cranberry juice diluted with water and sometimes the odd cysteme while the sensitivity remains. Might take a couple of months to go. If you are peri menopausal or post menopausal a topical oestrogen cream will rehydrate your bits so lessening bladder irritation. Hope it feels better soon.

Thanks will try those, I’ve found coffee now makes me just want to urinate a lot more so have had to cut it out. I’m 39 so am wondering if peri menopausal but also thought maybe too young? Just wish I could stop focusing on this but it’s hard as it’s always there but not sure what

Yeah i had a really bad one once and it took some getting over just like you're describing.I bought some urine strips off amazon to check myself for my own reassurance.

I’ve had similar but my bladder doesn’t work very well. After it returning after two rounds of nitro the Dr gave me two weeks of trimepthroprim and I only now feel it’s cleared.

Might be time to consider vaginal estrogen if this feeling doesn't go soon. Look up genitourinary syndrome of the menopause. It can absolutely start in peri. Xxx
