Recurrent Thrush treatment

I’ve been having bouts of thrush every 2 or 3 months for around 3 years which I treat with vaginal pessaries. Recently I’ve found that the pessary alone doesn’t clear it so I’ve needed a tablet too (I find thrush cream makes me more itchy/burn). My bouts of thrush are always after sex or when I’m feeling stressed. My husband has taken oral tablets from time to time in case we’re passing it back and fourth, although he’s never shown any symptoms.

i saw the Nurse a practitioner at my surgery last week after yet another bout, she sent swabs away which have come back positive for thrush so she’s prescribed a prolonged thrush treatment of a Fluconazole tablet every 3 days for a week, then one a week for 6 months.

I follow all the general advice around preventing thrush but the nurse said some women are just more susceptible. It’s extremely frustrating!

has anyone else experienced this and has the same treatment? Did it stop the bouts of thrush?

I have diabetes and one of my tablets makes me susceptible to thrush so am now on fluconazole every week. If I forget to take it I can feel the thrush come back. So, as long as I take it religiously it has treated it but I will never be able to stop them

Yes this works for me (finally!) and I get it on repeat prescription.
