I’ve been out of work for a year now, but I’ve been actively looking for work for the last three weeks. I’ve been very open to different types of jobs, and most of my experience is in customer service, particularly within insurance and optics. I’ve been successful in my previous roles, so I was hopeful that I’d find something fairly quickly.
However, the last three weeks have been quite difficult. I’ve had three interviews, and each experience has been very different.
The first interview was awful. The woman interviewing me was very cold, and I came away feeling that I’d probably not get the job.
The second was for a PA/carer role. I genuinely thought the interview went really well, but unfortunately, he didn’t even have the courtesy to let me know whether I’d been successful or not.
The third job was one I was really excited about. I had two interviews and unfortunately didn’t get it, apparently due to the volume of applicants. Although I was disappointed, I was also proud that I’d made it through two stages of the process.
I had another second interview yesterday for a role I’m really interested in. I felt that it went well, but I haven’t heard anything back yet.
It’s just becoming really difficult mentally when you’re putting so much effort into finding work, being open to different opportunities and attending interviews, but still not getting anywhere. I’m trying to stay positive, but after being out of work for a year, the uncertainty and rejection is really starting to knock my confidence.
I feel lost..: I’m not being too fussy I would even do a job that was for less money but more job satisfaction. Iv been feeling really down and just want to crawl under a rock.
