Referred to breast clinic after finding lumps in armpit and breast

I had an online consultation with GP today and have been referred to the breast clinic as a result but wondering how concerned I need to be.

A few months ago I noticed a small bump in my armpit. It felt a bit like a new raised mole and it looks pink in colour like a mole so I didn’t pay much attention to it. Then a few weeks ago I noticed a pea sized lump at the very top of the breast on the same side. It feels just the same as the armpit version - quite firm to the touch and doesn’t move - but it’s not pink. It’s the same colour as the rest of my skin. I thought it was perhaps a blocked pore but as it’s not going away I finally got round to speaking to the GP today.

in terms of other symptoms, I’ve been quite tired lately but it’s been a stressful time at work and I have been having hot flashes for the first time ever even though I’m about 5 years past my last period, but then again we’ve had very unusual weather this summer. Nothing else I can put my finger on.

Haven’t got a date yet for the breast clinic and haven’t mentioned this to anyone IRL but wondered if anyone here had experienced anything similar?

Bump for you

I’ve got a lump too and I am on the pathway, try not to worry too much, it could just be a fatty lump, a swollen node etc, mines been over 3 months and is hard and doesn’t move etc

I have been.in a similar situation a couple of times. They contacted me within the two weeks. It was all fine, as I hope it is for you OP.

The appointment has come through and it’s for tomorrow which is quicker than I thought it might be. I didn’t hear anything for days and then got a call about 4pm today and it’s all booked in.

That's great news, and hope you get the all clear

All the best OP, wishing you positive vibes. 💐

Wishing you positive news OP. I noticed an underarm lump about 2 months ago and have been red flagged. Haven’t got my appointment yet. I know 9 out of 10 lumps are benign but there’s always the lingering worry. Keep busy, take plenty of slow breaths x

Thanks everyone. Have just left the clinic. They were very thorough and are confident it’s just a cyst which doesn’t need any further treatment.

That’s good news, you must be very relieved!

You did the right thing getting it checked out with the GP and it’s so important for all women to be breast aware/in case of changes like you’ve reported

Glad all is well op. I know how you felt because I was referred on the 2ww pathway for a large firm lump. It turned out to be harmless fat necrosis but your mind goes everywhere, doesn't it?
