Recovery time after female sterilisation and whether one week sounds realistic

Hey, i am getting sterilised tomorrow, was just wondering how everyone’s recovery afterwards went? I have had a c-section so not really worried, but my c-section was done with spinal block, pre op have said a week to get back to normal, is this a good timeline or are they being OTT?

I had four days off work and was fine, I did feel tired for another week or so after that, but generally have that reaction after an anaesthetic

I had my tubes removed. I was in a lot of pain for the first 7 days, then slightly better until day 10 when I suddenly felt a lot better. Back at work after 2 weeks, a bit sore until 4 weeks post op.

The surgical nurse said I'd be ok to go back to work after a week, I told the consultant & he laughed, shook his head, wrote a sick note for 2 weeks & said to see my G P if I needed longer. Honestly I could have done with another week off, and would have taken it if my work weren't lovely & let me work flexibly from home.

I am only having clips i believe @CrazyCatLady13 no tube removal thankfully, sounds like its a much longer recovery for that.
@Seashorewaves i think 4 days sounds more better time, when she said a week i was like 😧 really? Hopefully i can be back on my feet asap, i have a 2 year old and a big 11yo with special needs who thinks hes a 2yo 😂.

I had mine on the Friday pm, went out to dinner on the Saturday night and back to work on the Monday. I felt fine.

I was given the choice of clips or removal, removal reduces the risk of ovarian cancer so I chose that option 🙂
I hope it all goes well for you OP

Hey, yes my surgeon asked which i would prefer, he said removal does reduce ovarian cancer but only minuscule, so i chose clips for faster recovery, no cramps or shoulder pain today so all good 👍🏻.

Just an update incase anyone comes along this thread in the future, no pain and no soreness since day 4/5, been back to normal (lifting toddler/ loads of washing etc) for few days and no issues, took my plasters off on day 5 (was supposed to be a week but they started peeling) and stitches are fine, only issue im having at the moment are weird very sharp shooting pains in my pelvic floor every now and then 🤷🏻‍♀️ hopefully they settle down soon.
