Blood pressure rising despite Losartan after bereavement and ongoing stress

I’m so stressed. My BP just keeps going up. I’m on the highest dose of Losartan and instead of coming down my BP has risen. I have an emergency appointment with the out of hours doctor tomorrow. My DS is taking me.

Since my DH died 18 months ago, I’ve felt stressed and I’m not sleeping properly. I think this is what is raising my BP.

Are you taking your BP at home? My BP is high the first few times I take it but it reduces once I am feeling relaxed.

Yes I have a home machine. I’ve tried sitting quietly for ten minutes and then ignoring the first readings, whilst concentrating on relaxing. My best reading this evening was 162/99.

Ok so you probably need to speak to GP . GP needs to review your medication .

I saw a really lovely GP today at the out of hours service. He’s changed my meds and added pregabalin to help with my painful, restless legs. I have to see my own GP in two weeks. He was so good with me, he listened and explained everything. I so wish he was my regular GP.

I take Losartan alongside Amlodapine which works well.

I can’t take Amlodapine, it worsens my acid reflux.
