Stop HRT or consider ProVera?

I’m hoping for some advice or to hear from anyone with similar experience.

I was on Evorel patches from last October until May when I was advised to stop using them as they were causing spotting before my period which I’ve never had before. Had the necessary scans etc and nothing was amiss so I was recommended Oestrogel and Utrogestan along with Zelletta as my new regime. I started this in early July this year.

I have adenomyosis so the Zelletta was supposed to prevent bleeding but instead I bled pretty much constantly whilst on it and it turned me into a depressed, anxious, teary mess. I came off it after 3 weeks.

My GP then upped the Utrogestan dose to 200mg to make up for the lost progesterone from the pill and for the first few weeks, I was extremely groggy and lacked any energy to do anything. I’m getting over the main side effects from that now but I still feel a bit dull around the edges. Not depressed but not full of life either. My previously very high libido has disappeared too.

I’ve had intermittent bleeding since July and one full period that was incredibly painful and lasted 10 days. I was bleed free for 3 days and I’ve started bleeding again this morning, I am fed up.

My GP has now recommended I stop the Utrogestan and take ProVera along with estrógen pessaries.

That’s a lot of hormonal onslaught in 2.5 months isn’t it? I’m actually minded to come off hrt altogether to give my body a break as I really don’t feel good and I’m sick of the pretty much constant bleeding and spotting I’ve had since coming off the patches.

Has anyone had any similar experiences and can tell me to persevere with the ProVera or give my poor body a break?

I’m 46, some mild peri symptoms. Periods (were) reasonably regular until I started on the gel and Utrogestan.

That was long, sorry!
