When I had shingles the pain was pretty grim. No itching but pain like being snapped with an elastic band that happened frequently and without warning.

I also felt unwell for a day or two before and thoroughly miserable.

I had shingles a few months ago and the pain was unbearable, there was no questioning what it was! That being said I had a pretty nasty case of it. Had pain for weeks after the rash went too. Really though, mumsnet isn't the place to be diagnosed, do you have a walk in centre or urgent care near you?

Looks like it. I've had it twice. You'll feel a stinging pain next and it will blister. GP should be able to prescribe an ointment that helps. Keep it out of sunlight.

If it's on both legs, it's not shingles. One of the main defining things of shingles is that it's on one side of the body only, wherever it pops up, as the virus attacks a nerve on that side.

Maybe Vasculitis? Don't think Shingles.

I don't understand your post, is it on both legs? If so, then might be razor burn or a rash from another cause and won't be shingles Shingles normally causes intense pain and a linea rash around the affect limb/trunk/face etc. IF its shingles, you need to get antivirals and pain relief ASAP.

Depends. Generally you can tell because the rash sticks to set nerve lines. And you get zappy electric shock pains
