Weird period or bleeding between periods

I'm 42, my periods have always been regular with cycles of 28 days plus or minus a day or 2. I had a normal period on 18th July, followed by another on the 13th August. So a cycle of 26 days, a bit shorter than sometimes but just about normal. Looking back this period may have been a bit lighter than normal but nothing that concerned me. What is worrying me now is that I started bleeding again yesterday 22nd August. It started very light and has progressed today into what would be a light to moderate period. This has never happened to me before. I'm going to contact the GP tomorrow. Trying not to worry too much but I am concerned. Has anyone had similar? What can I expect the GP to do, what will they investigate?

Not sure what the GP will do, probably just tell you to monitor as a one off and with no other symptoms. My periods are exactly like yours usually 28 days almost every time - except this month it stopped after day 5 and then started again on day 7 for 4 more days! I’m 42 as well so I fear it might just be the dreaded peri starting

Thanks, yeah maybe they will just ask to monitor for now. Can't help worrying about more concerning causes, but without any other symptoms it's probably the start of peri that we are experiencing. I hoped for a few more years before everything started getting a bit irregular.
