Flu-like symptoms before periods with endometriosis, could this be period flu?

So i am mid 30s and had relatively normal periods up until recently . Diagnosed mild endo at 21 and removed via laproscopy and had many good years following .
Over past year , pain has imcreased ( think bum pain constantly / bowel symptoms the lot ) Mri showed adhesions by rectum etc and i am awaiting robotic removal by an endo specialist .

That aside recently i went to doctors day 3 of my period as during run up to my period (10 days before ) I had experiencdd what i can only desfribe as flu - profound tiredness / body aches not disimialr to flu and awful nausea - doc said could be endo flair relayed to period or coulf be a virus .

2 months later same thing has happened again severe body aches , overwhelming tiredness and almost flu like and pregnancy type nausea / pelvic pain / ibs

Upon googling i came across period flu - is this a thing ? Really imterested to see how many of you have similar as i was on verge of another emergecny doc app !

I’ve never heard of period flu, sorry. Bumping thread for you. I feel like you’ve described on a lot of days, but mine is because of long covid. You have my sympathies. If there’s a pattern with your periods, there may be some help or treatment available. I hope your GP is able to help.

I don’t have periods much anymore as I’m on the progesterone only pill to control my endo however when I was having periods more frequently and even now when I get the odd one I feel really really flu-y a few days before almost every time! I can’t count the amount of covid tests I did feeling ill that were negative followed closely by the start of my period. No idea why though or what causes it! Good luck with your op

@Gameofmoans81 I have done covid tests too ! What baffles me is mine can be well over a week before which seems excessive ?

Before ypur period the body has increased needs for vitamins and minerals. The immune system also is less active before your period. A long time ago, when I used to feel like I was getting ill before my period, I read about the cycle diet (eat more root veg and carbs in second half of cycle to support progesterone production), after experimenting I landed on choosing more vegetarian options in the 2-3 days before coming on. I feel it helped me to not feel ill, and rationalised that eating meat is more of a burden on the immune system (it is) so I was helping it. Long answer sorry!

Not achey but I do get fatigue in the run up to period, feels like when you’ve had flu and every little thing is exhausting. I was thinking of going to the doctors and asking them to check my iron though.
