A question for those on the nexplanon contraception implant

So I had this in for 9 years before my two babies and I never really had an issue with it, just irregular spotting but I actually preferred that to a regular monthly period. This time round I feel quite low and rough and I don’t remember feeling this way before, however I am wondering if it’s just because I am due on and still having period symptoms?
I had it inserted last week on the 5th August so it’s still fresh, but my mood has been horrendous. Irritable, angry, low, but also physical symptoms like nausea, migraines, and today I feel the worst!
I have just had some very very light spotting so I am wondering if this is just period symptoms or can the implant cause this.

So my questions are, if it is the implant causing me to feel ill, will this settle after time?
… and if it is just symptoms from a period, is it normal to still have the period symptoms without the heavy bleeding? Has anyone else experienced either of these?

just some advice and reassurance really. Thanks in advance x

I never had any issues with nexplanon until after I had my third child. I hadn't had one for quite some time and had been feeling great. As soon as it went in I just didn't feel like myself. I felt distant, withdrawn and generally low. My sex drive disappeared as did my ability to enjoy sex when he did try. DH didn't plan on getting a vasectomy, but did so after seeing the negative impact it the implant was having.

I can't remember how long I had it - not very long though. A few months maybe. With hindsight, maybe I should have waited for it to settle.

@CrazyCatMam this is how I feel at the minute! Can’t put my finger on if it’s the implant or period and if it will settle down or not.

do you think the shift in hormones after having children can make the effects from the implant different than before?!

@CrazyCatMam also did you feel better after having it removed, and if so how long did it take for you to feel back to yourself again? Thank you for your message
