Worried about breast discomfort

For a couple of months now my left breast has felt like there is something “digging into” it like a ball when I put my arm beside me or lay on my side in bed. It also feels very tender and almost itchy like an itchy nerve type feeling? It never goes away but after ovulation it gets worse.

I saw a GP who has referred me to the “breast pain clinic” I’m trying not to worry but I can’t help it. I’m 37. Has anyone had anything similar?

I had a lump and some dimpled skin a few years ago, I was put on the 2 week pathway and went for examinations and mammogram - it was found to be a dense patch of 'normal' breast tissue, thank goodness. It's still there but I'm now on the over 50s routine breast screening programme and the last one I had was clear, I do check it every month myself for any changes.

Do you know how long the referral will take for the breast pain clinic? In your position I would be pushing for a mammogram; I'd want clarity on it. If this is one of those referrals that takes months to happen, I'd be going back and saying there's been no change and you're feeling increasingly worried about it.

following OP. I went to the GP beginning of July for what feels like a sharp pain behind my nipple when it’s pressed, or even when walking, going downstairs, turning on my side of lying on my front. GP couldn’t feel any lumps but said to call back and get a referral to the breast clinic if said pain doesn’t go in 2 weeks.. it’s been over that now and o think the comfort of there being no lump has me waiting longer for it to pass.. but it’s not . So calling tomorrow for my referral. I’m only 30
