When did you know to up Estrogel dose?

I've started on one pump of Estrogel but I think two or even three would work better for me (I think I've got an estrogen deficit and already feeling better) but just wondered if you stuck to doctors advice or decided to go up on your own...

I was told to increase up to three, but to wait 3-4 weeks between increase, and to see if it helped symptoms before increasing.

I've only been on it a week so expecting miracles, obvs 😂

I found the problem was in Peri I was still producing fluctuating amounts of oestrogen, so sometimes I would need more Esteogel than others.

One week in is very early days. Any new medication can take up to 12 weeks to fully kick in. You often do get a big boost in the first week or so but it doesn't always last. I was up and down and all over the place for the first 8 weeks, then started to feel much more settled

About 4 months later, I had a follow up review and they increased my dose to 3 pumps as I was still having some peri symptoms. Best not to increase your oestrogen dose without medical advice, as your progesterone dose will need to be increased as well

I have the Mirena coil so thankfully don't need to think about that for now

You might be best adding this to the menopause group too.

Started on two pumps. Sorted most symptoms within about a month.

When symptomd started creeping back I was advised to go up to three pumps. Took about a month again to feel the benefit.

I thought that the starting dose was 2 pumps/50mcg?

I felt the benefits of HRT very quickly - within a few days I think, but I know it can take longer. I knew to increase the dose when symptoms started returning, which was night sweats for me. I didn't wait to ask the GP as I couldn't see the point of taking up an appointment slot to say, I think I need to increase my oestrogen dose, and for them to say, OK try it then.

Started on 2 pumps and felt better after a month or so. Started getting night sweats again about 9 months later so increased to 3 and they settled again. I went to gp for something else shortly after and mentioned I had increased, she updated my prescription to reflect the new dose. That was nearly a year ago and I have been fine since.

I don’t have any symptoms, so I’m on just one pump.
