Hello! As the title says I am experiencing bleeding mid cycle while on the contraceptive pill. Specifically microgynon.
I am 40 years old and have been on this for around 2.5 years. I always run 2 packs together then take a 4 day break as instructed by my GP. I tried 3 packs at the start but I got breakthrough bleeding so changed to 2. It feels hormonal as with hindsight I’ve had my usual period headache the last day or so.
The other thing to check will be my thyroid levels as I had a partial thyroidectomy in April
Obviously I will consult my GP due to a change, but just wanted to ask if this is likely to be perimenopause related? If so and the pill isn’t controlling bleeding then what do you do next? Unexpectedly bleeding whenever is just not ideal is it?
