Coming off desogestorel

Im thinking of coming off of desogestorel after 2 and a half years on it.

I initially went on it to help control horrendously heavy periods and it it worked for about 2 years but I’ve been having more bleeding on it and I’ve noticed my mental health has dipped dramatically on it too. Not needing contraception as husband has (finally) had the snip.

Just curious, those of you who have been on it, how long does it take to get a “normal” cycle back? Is a withdrawal bleed likely before I start having monthly periods again?

Im 39, almost 40 if that helps for info

thanks

I have just come off it to try and conceive again. I had the worst migraine / hormone withdrawal from it that I never got on the combined pill. I bled heavily after a week or two. But I seem to have returned to normal quickly! Worst pill in existence.

@redbullsurvivorhow did you find your mental health when on it? Honestly I’m starting to think it’s the worst pill in existence too

I have genuinely been pondering whether this is the cause of a recent dip in my mental health. I'm on another medication which would be far more detrimental to mess with, so the pill would need to go first however I've been on it 5.5 years.

Hmm I didn’t really put 2 + 2 together because I was also post partum. I am only a month clean so still can’t say for certain. It definitely affected my sex drive. I would get foggy headed / demotivated more. I am an anxious person regardless so I’m unsure on that. I felt like a grey cloud followed me I’d say.
