Bit embarrassing but. I’m 32 now and when I was 21 a guy gave me oral sex and 2 days later I came out in cold sores all down there. That was 11 years ago and I’ve had about 3 breakouts in total. I’ve been stressed so bad emotionally the past 3 weeks so that’s why I think has caused it, I’ve even had a baby before and I had no issues or no breakouts during or after when times have been stressful with the newborn stage etc. but me and my boyfriend went through a very rough patch there and I was crying every day so I think this is what’s caused it. I’ve started aciclovor tablets for 2 days only. 2 400mg tablets 3 times a day. Which I think seems a lot ! But does anybody have this? And never have any problems with it etc Or can anyone give me any advice. Also I am on a strong dose of aciclyvor so when would I be able to have sex again. Would I be contagious

There’s lots of info on here that answer your questions and take a deep breath, the outbreak will pass and the virus may not reoccur again. Just follow the advice on the website.

I have had it since I was 17 years old.. I wish I was more careful! My initial outbreak was horrendous, but it calmed down after that and I barely see it (now 46 years old).

I have tried many things, but found that rubbing plenty of Sudocrem around the infection when it starts to tingle seems to help me. It creates a barrier to stop it hurting when I wipe and keeps it from getting as bad. Washing twice a day and putting Sudocrem works for me, and (of course) no intercourse until this has completely gone. I only get one lesion when my immune system is running low, and over the years the breakouts are only once every six months, sometimes longer. Being pregnant seems to make them worse for me though. My husband doesn't have it after 20 years, so I think what I am doing is ok.

I read that Aciclovir stops the infection from spreading, but your body has to work to reduce the infection. Keep an eye on the spots, and only have sex when they are gone.

L-lysine is a godsend.

All the lesions have more or less crusted over and I’m not in pain do you think would I be ok to have sex again? I’ve been on a very strong dose of anti virals to. 2 tablets 3 times a day since yesterday.

I would think so but I'm not a virus expert.

You're never fully not contagious.

I take L-lysine every day and haven't had an outbreak in years and only three times in total (I started taking it from a few weeks after contracting it). I've never transferred it to anyone else either. I have a huge file with a 'small pharma' cure on it if you'd like me to send you it and are comfortable with pming me your email address.

If you don’t mind me askin did you also get it from oral? That’s how I got it. This sounds so bad but I’m at my boyfriends now and I’m not sure whether to engage in adult activities with him hahaha

Yes. I wouldn't in your position, you're probably not contagious but for me it isn't worth the risk. Read up on asymmetric shedding and start taking L-lysine.

I'm a lesbian.

Condoms do protect to an extent but skin-on-skin contact can cause the infection to spread rather than the virus just being on your 'bits' so to speak.
