Cervical ectropian

Hello,

anyone had cervical ectropian for years? It’s noted at all my cervical screenings for past 9 years! No symptoms. Nurses say it’s a not cause for concern, and results are always clear . I’ve just never asked the question if it’s normal to have for so long

just read that it’s usually due to the pill, I’m not in it or younger women, I’m in 40s

many thanks 😃

I've had it for years. There's no issue with it. Bleeds every now and then.

Its not harmful

Do they notice it at your cervical screening tests? I’m not sure why I think it should have disappeared by now 😆. I was hoping it had, but I’ve just had a screening test and it was put in my notes again.

@winterblues32 they only mention it because I bleed.

Mine was spotted when my prolapse was being diagnosed.

It comes and goes like everything in your body. Totally harmless. I wouldn't worry.

Ah thanks for replying. The nurse didn’t say anything during the test to me, but it was noted in my nhs app notes and I thought blimey! It’s still there! It’s been noted at every screening test, the last 4 at least. I’ve never had a colposcopy to check that’s exactly what it is, but the gp said it is and all smears have been negative so I should be ok. It’s just the usual, you Google and it states it’s mostly common in younger women on the pill, I’m neither x so wondering why I have it.

It's really normal. I've never given it a second thought!

I'd stop stressing or go and ask the GP

winterblues32 · 22/07/2026 12:13

Thank you. I’ll have my couple of days of stressing after it’s been made apparent to me again! Then I’ll forget about it again till the next one! But thanks for your time. Appreciated! Good to talk 😃

I had it in very early 1990s. They froze (or burnt it can’t remember exactly) it, took a biopsy just to check, and no issues since.

winterblues32 · 22/07/2026 12:47

I’ve never had any symptoms or been referred for further checks. But had 4 clear screening tests since first discovered, and surely they would have sent me had they thought it was dangerous. Thanks for your message. X
