Could the combined pill be causing anger and low mood?

Hi all

I started on the combined pill 2 nearly 3 months ago to try and help with what my gp and I thought was PMDD, and the last 6 weeks or so I have just had insane anger, falling out with just about everyone close to me. I don’t recognise myself!

could this be down to the pill? I’m so snappy and short tempered, I feel insanely tired all the time, sluggish and just generally down. I had moments like this before my period before I started the pill but only 2-3 days of it!

Yes, absolutely.
Microgynon made me insane!! Switched to the mini pill and was so much better!!

Yes. The pill has always made me worse. If you have progesterone intolerance it’s like throwing petrol in the fire.

Get a different treatment.

The Pill made me so low I felt suicidal. There is very little acknowledgment that it can make a substantial minority of women feel dreadful.

Yes it’s actually made me feel like I’m losing my mind! I think after my next ‘bleed’ on it, I’m going to come off. Have any of you looked into taking Ditto?

what else have worked for you guys?

When I started taking it years ago I was given microgynon and it made me feel awful, so irritable, weepy, snappy, irrational. I switched to another after a year and was instantly fine. Same with a mini pill a few years later, staked on weight and was constantly anxious. Moved to another and was back to normal. Its definitely worth trying a different brand.

I always struggled on any oral contraceptive I tried both mini and combined and it is a recognised thing for some women, caused both depression and anxiety for me . Here is article about it
