Painful breast lump should I book a GP appointment?

Yesterday evening I found a painful lump in my breast. It's towards the top of my left breast, near the armpit, but the lump is definitely in the breast rather than armpit
It's still there this morning and it's still sore.

I've not had a breast lump before so not sure what to do... I'm 42, period due in 5 days.

Should I do an e-consult today and hope to get an appointment next Tues or Thurs on days there is a female GP? Or should I wait a week or few weeks and see if it goes by itself?? ChatGPT suggested making an appointment straight away but not sure if that’s OTT?

Book the GP appointment, better to get things looked at.

Absolutely !
and don't let them fob you off either .

Yes book an appointment and be prepared for a Breast Clinic 2 week appointment. It is most likely to not be cancer but it needs to be investigated.

Absolutely make a GP appointment. Most breast lumps are benign but should always be checked.

Thanks all, I wasn't sure whether is was sensible to wait or not. I can’t make an appointment directly with my GP but I've filled out the e-consult online so will hopefully hear back with an appointment soon. I guess it can always be cancelled if it disappears over the weekend!

Yes. Book the appointment. My painful lump was an inflamed cyst. Sporner corner would have been thrilled to see what came out of it!
