Mirena coil. In pain and fed up

Just to start off I will be going to the doctor to get this all checked.

I am 6 months postpartum, breastfeeding ( might affect things) and I had the mirena coil put in on Tuesday. I have had the coil before but after it I have never been in so much pain to the point I couldn’t sleep. Since then on and off I have been getting lightning stabbing pain in my cervix to the point I can’t wee or move. It’s not constant but it really hits hard. I am also extremely tired.

I was worried and couldn’t feel the strings when I checked ( my cervix are really far back though). I did ring the GP but it seems the one I spoke to had no idea and kept telling me period pain is normal, though it’s not period pain at all and also told me the strings don’t matter unless I was trying to remove it myself … wtf.

Now I’m thinking if the doctor can find the strings should I leave it and hope it settles or just insist they remove it…. Just feel so fed up. My husband works and I have no other childcare which is making this ordeal so much worse.

Sorry you're having such a horrible time with it. I don’t think the pain you're describing is normal. I'm wondering if it's not quite in the right place. Please do go to the doctor ASAP. A sexual health clinic might be a better bet if you have one nearby. Good luck.
