“The pitiful research done into endo means that until recently we had no evidence that it could even reach the brain” explained the founder of charity Endometriosis Awareness North.

“We are just beginning to understand that the fatigue associated with it causes emotional problems, but now we are learning that endometrial cells are literally destroying the brain’s function.

A small percentage of sufferers – including Oldham nurse Lucy Bowker – have had treatment for endo in the lungs and kidneys. Although rare, cerebral endometriosis can cause seizures and altered consciousness.
“We simply do not know for definite what brain damage endo causes, and our assertions are reached by looking at how other conditions affect cognitive function,” revealed Dr Sharma.

Oldham medic warns women's condition leads to brain damage

As if the chronic pelvic pain were not enough, an Oldham campaigner has now claimed that girls with endometriosis are more likely to experience migraines, bipolar, confusion, anxiety, and even eventual dementia.

Thanks OP. I have endo and my friend has suspected endo (though she hasn’t pursued surgery).

a couple of years ago she had a seizure. Never happened before or since. They basically shrugged their shoulders and sent her away. Sometimes I wonder…

Thank you for this.

"The pitiful research done into endo means that until recently we had no evidence that it could even reach the brain" do you know they commissioned 2 research papers, one was how the partners of women with endo are effected by the condition and the other was how attractive are women with endo. I really wish I was joking. And yes, I did read both papers, and apparently we are more attractive Hmm What utter ridiculous research and a complete waste of money.

I follow a lovely woman on Tiktok who has thoracic endo and her lungs have collapsed several times from it. Another woman died from repeated lung collapse. Also "silent" kidney disease more from uretas being destroyed by endo. Women are losing their organs, their overall health, their jobs due to endo. I am pleased the BBC recently featured Emma Barnett's Fighting Endometriosis.

A brilliant research lab with lots of menstrual focus is Ditto-Menstrual Research under ditto.daily on Tiktok. It is good to understand the why as well as the symptoms.
