Repeated Cervicitis - help

greengoblin123 · 07/06/2026 23:59

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me. Over the last 12 months I have had cervicitis a few times. Obviously each time they have tested for BV & STI’s etc and each time that has come back negative. I have stopped wearing tampons. Is there anything else I can do to stop getting this? It did seem like it was after wearing a tampon for the full 8 hours it happens. The clinic I went to have each time basically said oh it will be an STI even though I have tried explaining it hasn’t been an STI the last few times either.

i am a little paranoid, could it possibly be? Does my partner need to go and be tested even though I’m negative? Any help please!

I would definitely ask your husband to get a full STI check up. Not to suggest he is in anyway to blame but just as a precaution and to see if anything shows up on his when it might not have done on yours.
are you up to date with your smear tests?
if you've been to the GP more than 3 times quote Jess' Rule as this means they should consider different causes. (Look up for more info)
rather than tampons or pads could you perhaps try using a menstrual cup?

Thank you so much for replying. Do you think he could have something even after I have tested negative 3 times? That is a scary thought.
just been tested again, just waiting on those results. I will definitely have to go back something just isn’t right.
I am all up to date with smears. Had my last one only 3 months ago.
I was thinking I will just use pads / period underwear from now, that way it’s nowhere near my cervix and see how I go. Although I do prefer tampons / menstrual cups in general.
