Piles ??

Sorry TMI but I think I may have piles which I have never had before…. A few weeks ago I went to the toilet and there was a tiny bit of blood on the tissue and then it was itchy and it went away. Had a look last week and noticed there is a purple fleshy bit there and the area around the hole (sorry gross) looks purple. My bum feels very achy down there but ever since I’ve not had any more blood and the itchiness comes and goes. I bought some anusol cream a few days ago but they’ve not gone and I still have symptoms.

does this seem like usual piles symptoms at all?

sorry so gross I know.

Make an appt with your GP. They'll diagnose. Sometimes you need a cream with hydrocortisone.

@CaffeineDeficient I will do. Just thought I’d give it a few more days with the cream first. Thank you 😊

I have a single pile that flares up/bleeds from time to time.
I found Anusol useless. Germoloids cream is loads better.

@RaraRachael I will try this. Thank you! Does it sound like usual piles symptoms to you? I’ve never had them before so wouldn’t know

@Daffodil0407 It sounds exactly the same as mine. I've had it for years. I went to the doctor the first time it bled as I was worried

Daffodil0407 · 31/05/2026 21:48

@RaraRachael Thank you. I’m guessing symptoms can come and go then? Such a pain!

very likely to be piles

sudocreme can also help with the itchiness

Having suffered with piles myself OP I would say your assumption is correct, however do see your GP to get checked over in case it's something else. It probably isn't but better to know.

Please see your gp - they’ll have seen it before.

In early April a male doctor was like I hate to tell you your presumed anal fissure is piles and ended up a secondary skin infection around the hole. (where I’d left it weeks when anusol from shelf wasn’t working) only thing I dispute is never knowingly constipated in the last year but blocking yourself up isn’t the way to go either.

I got 2 creams on prescription, brought the pressure reliving honeycomb cushion from jml and never been as bad since.
