I was really anaemic in January and had a blood tranfusion and iron transfusions. My haemoglobin increased from 40 to 135 and ferrtin is now in normal range. I am taking iron tablets daily. I had investigations and it was found to be anaemia caused by insanely heavy flooding periods - on tranexamic acid but it not helping so need a hysterectomy as i have two ovarian cysts too 80mm and 30ml on one and the other 50mm and 42mm.
I have since put a stone on in weight. Before anaemia treatment I was 8st 8 now 9st 8. Awhole stone! what would cause this? My stomach is huge and my legs that were toned are now flabby. I am not eating more.. walking 10k steps a day so upset and don't know what has caused this no clothes fit

Your body gained weight mainly because of hormone shifts, fluid retention after your anemia treatment, and big ovarian cysts. Even if you’re eating the same and walking a lot, your belly can swell and muscles may feel softer. It’s not real fat gain just your body recovering and reacting.
