Hi,
38 year old female. 3 children and absolutely want no more. We use condoms for birth control but my cycle is max 24 days and I’m exhausted. I run and my running is taking a hit over the past 2 years as my hormones seem to be all over the place. I never used to get PMT and now I’m so moody the week before my period. I am so sore around ovulation. Again something new! But I’m scared to take the merina coil or mini pill as I struggled with a borderline earring disorder in my 20s and am petrified I’d gain weight. I also had acne and really don’t want to experience this again. What experience of these methods do people have in terms of reductions sore periods, pelvic pain and how it changed awful PMT? Thanks.

I mean this one is a no brainer. He needs to get the snip.

As for the other symptoms, see your doctor for a chat.

But I certainly wouldn’t be putting any more hormonal crap in my body if I was married and we were done having kids. I’d expect him to step up.

Most people find Mirena really helps with sore periods, cramps, and PMS, though spotting can happen at first. The mini pill can help too, but some still get irregular bleeding or mood changes weight gain isn’t guaranteed.

I got a 10 year copper coil at 38. Had blood pressure and weight factors that forced me off the combined pill and when I took the progesterone only pill my 20s I had problems with mood and acne.. I had no issues after fitting, my periods were heavier but lasted fewer days. Now I'm well into peri menopause and they are pretty light. It's worked really well for me.
