Cervical ectropion

I have had 16 weeks of really uncomfortable thick white/yellow discharge - lots of tests - all negative / and finally this week after a hysteroscopy they saw cervical ectropion which apparently can cause this. I have had two other examinations and it wasn’t mentioned before. I’m to go back in 4 weeks and talk about treatment options. Has anyone had this and had successful treatment? I’ve never had spotting/bleeding with it.

Hi,

i didn’t have the symptoms that you have but I have been treated for ectropion twice. It’s honestly fine, they usually treat with silver nitrate, initially it’s quite crampy so definitely packing some painkillers and you’ll want to wear a pad for few days as there’s usually a bit of black ash like discharge

day after both of my treatments I was right as rain back in the gym & lifting kids etc.

hope all goes well xx

Oh thank you that’s good to hear. I’ve heard that some people have a biopsy with it - which hasn’t been mentioned to me. I am due a smear test in July - my last one was all ok - but I’m wondering if I should ask for that to be done a bit early as well….

I had heard the same too & they said they was nothing they could see that warranted a biopsy, I think it depends what they see on examination. X

I had unexplained bleeding in my mid 50s. Lots investigations, nothing sinister found. The closest I got to an explanation was the nurse doing a smear test who mentioned she could see I had CE. She said that causes bleeding often.

My symptoms stopped about the same time as the smear when I finaly got into menopause I guess.
