Hi everyone, im having my hormonal coil removed in two weeks because of the following side effects:
Constant head ache
Anxiety
Depression
Sleeping poorly
Extreme fatigue

Ill be going back to copper, although I had heavy periods i felt so much better.

I was wondering has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes I think it's all in my head but im now certain it isnt.

Following as I’ve come off all HRT for a bit as the progesterone or synthetic progesterones make me feel so anxious and low

Were you at all anxious/depressesd before the hormonal coil op?

Nothing like i am now. Im jittery, cant sit still, cant relax. I tried this coil years ago and got it out before I have it a good go. It's been 2 years now and still not right for me. Im gutted because it does help the heavy periods, but thats it

Sorry it’s making you feel bad. Im
done with HRT for a bit.
Two years is a long time to feel like that x

I had the Mirena coil after hearing it raved about. It gave me suicidal depression. I have never felt so awful as I did whilst on that. It took me too long to connect the dots as well - I think it was around 6 months I realised when the feelings started, googled it and was horrified to find it was incredibly common. I was literally ready to rip it out of myself if the drs had refused to remove it. I also had 6 months of constant bleeding, which I’m sure didn’t help things!

Im so sorry you went through this. It's truly awful. Hearing other people's stories make me feel seen and like it isnt in my head! I cant wait to get it taken out.

Just an update to say I had my coil taken out about two weeks ago and I feel so much better.
My husband and I have had issues with his snoring which was keeping me awake every night which caused tension.
I am now sleeping so much better his snoring hardly bothers me anymore.
I feel more relaxed and less anxious.
Im absolutely gutted its took me so long to realise this as my postpartum journey may have been easier without this coil.

Good for you op! Very glad you feel so much better. Damn hormones!!!x

I had a Mirena fitted as part of my HRT, never having had one before. It caused me to have very bad anxiety and tearfulness, which is very unlike me normally. I had it removed quite promptly and was back to my normal self within a week. Never again, and I really wouldn't recommend them.

Bless you. Its awful. But when they fit it they say the hormones can't affect you bla bla bla. They clearly can. So many women report these issues but shock horror its not studied properly. Glad we both got it removed 😊

I’ve been told it’s gold standard HRT but have had a new one three weeks ago and never felt so depressed.
