Contraception options in your mid to late 40s

What contraception does everyone use in their mid to late 40s? I'm 45 and have been using the mini pill since having my children, and been happy with it as it stopped my periods with very rare break through bleeding. Until now. Now I seem to get some almost every month (but not in a regular pattern), still very light but the most recent round lasted over two weeks. Added to that I've been getting breast cysts which breast clinic confirmed they are cysts not anything else, but while not caused by the mini pill probably wouldn't go away as I don't have regular periods.
As far as I can tell given the no periods I'm not yet perimenopausal, but am aware I can't be far off.

Coils seem popular amongst my friends.

Mirena coil and at 44 I started HRT.
at 45 it is very common to get lots of peri symptoms creeping up without you realising.

i'm 45, and have a mirena coil. Haven't had a period in 7 years. Started HRT last month.

Mirena as well. Started it to "count" as the progesterone part of my HRT and while insertion is frankly horrible. I'm not going to lie because it's unfair but I still would have done it again. Wish I'd got it much younger tbh.

Isn’t Mirena the same drug as the mini pill? I’m kind of freaked out by the thought of having a coil inserted but might consider it if it’ll make my periods go away again.

It is but it's a tiny dose very slow release form. I had awful side effects with the mini pill that I don't have with a Mirena.

Obviously check with your doc if there would be a problem having it.
