In an ongoing battle with mastitis which started 6 weeks ago - 10 days of 2 different antibiotics and then dr said to wait it out. The lump went about a week later but my breast continued swelling staying sore, red and itchy.
called dr again this week after sudden crippling pain in breast, fever and vomiting. They prescribed more antibiotics but appointment was 4 days away.
ended up in A&E and got admitted immediately as bright red breast about 3x the size of the other along with how ill I was. Had 3 doses of IV antibiotics and potassium drip then sent home with 10 days of oral antibiotics.
breast ultrasound showed oedema and thickened skin and I have a follow up next week. The redness is slowly going down but the swelling and pain remain.
has anyone else experienced similar? How long did it take to resolve and do you have any tips to reduce swelling as I wasn’t given any advice.
It’s not just the pain bothering me, I feel so embarrassed having one giant boob and I can’t even really wear a bra because of it. It’s summer so hard to hide it with a baggy jumper ðŸ˜
