I am 51. I have been having many of the symptoms of Peri menopause, emotions and physical. I recently spoke to my GP because I have tennis elbow and was looking for advice
as it is really bad at the moment. He went through a check
list. I don’t have hot flushes and I am still having regular periods. He told me that means I am not in Peri menopause. When I asked about the symptoms
im I’m experiencing he said he didn’t know but the regular periods mean no signs
of perimenopause. He kept banging on about regular periods.

so I’m asking, is it possible to have regular periods at my age and still be perimenopausal? Is anyone else like this?

Your GP is an idiot.

Use the symptom questionnaire on the Balance app and go back armed with that. I was similarly fobbed off twice before getting hormones on the third time of asking

Male GPs know fuck all about the menopause and seem to think women should just have to put up with gynae problems. If there is a female GP at your practice, try and get an appointment with her instead, although there's no guarantee she'll be much better it is worth a try.

He doesn’t know what he is talking about. There is no way that age 51 you are not in peri. Tennis elbow - along with other aches and pains is a common peri symptom.
Yes you can be having regular periods and still be in peri.
Buy a good book on the perimenopause- I like the Dr Louise Newsome - Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause. Get some decent information and return to the Gp with information about what you want if it’s HRT.

im a couple of years younger than you and the same I was also fobbed off and told I wasn't in peri and couldn't be given any HRT as I wasn't yet having hot flushes and am still having periods. mind you im actually not sure about the regularity of my natural periods as im still taking the contraceptive pill.
I have loads of symptoms though and my anxiety is awful these days.
It was a female GP I saw, ive not bothered going back. Im sure at 51 you must definitely be peri menopausal.
