Went for a sciatica check up recently, and asked for my V.veins to be checked. Once again the DR didnt seem concerened.

Have small veins appear and spider veins since i was 20. Stamding in work for long periods i think.

4 kids and now 40 my legs are biggest ever. Ive always had big thighs, small waist. Now im gaining weight on my waist and my legs.

When at mt appointment i asked if it was edma/lymphediam... i dont know much about it but did wonder. Again DR didnt say much didnt seem concerned.

Im 5.4, size 18 and weigh 17 stone 🤢 ive always been heavy but before kids a size 14 but 13/15 stone.

My skin appears lumpy at the top, like droopy between the thights. But smooth texture/soft especially when i lie down.

My confidence is breaking.

It looks like a condition called lipoedema to me. I have it, although it affects my lower legs too - there are different types. Most sufferers have a comparatively small waist, but I have recently started to gain fat around my middle, which is lumpy and feels like peas, or rice grains. Hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy and perimenopause make it worse.

Only real treatment is specialist liposuction surgery- not available on the nhs.

I expect you find you bruise easily.
