Terrible pain after trying to hold urine in

I have name changed for this but I can assure you I am a very old regular on here.

Yesterday, I had the urge to urinate and because I knew if I did not tense my muscles (pull up pelvic floor) I was going to wet myself before I got to the loo. That did not help and quite a lot of wee came out. I immediately went to the loo but then found I could not go at all. Whilst sitting on the loo, the shooting pain I was experiencing was excruciating. I ended up going lie on the bed and trying "mind over matter" and really trying to get my abdomen to relax.

Long story short, I did eventually fall asleep but was up and down in the night going to the loo and feeling oh so cold.

This morning, the pain is there but nowhere near as painful as yesterday. I feel as if I need to do an enormous blow off but that is not happening either.

Not sure what I want from you all but if anyone has had this, what worked for you to get rid of the pain.

Sounds like a classic UTI, take an urine sample to a prescribing pharmacy and tell them your symptoms, they can test for infection and prescribe antibiotics if you need them

Sounds like a UTI, needing to go but you can’t. Are you drinking plenty? If you have a pharmacist nearby who can prescribe you can get antibiotics. I’ve also taken sodium citrate before to help with symptom management but you’d still need antibiotics

See the GP / Pharmacy for the infection you have…

Sounds UTI/cystitis…pharmacy can prescribe for you, usually 3 day course, drink lots of water, cranberry juice if you like it, and painkillers. I’ve suffered this for years unfortunately.

Thank you all very much. I will see the pharmacist tomorrow. Never realised something like this could be so painful!!!

Likely a Urinary tract infection or bladder/kidney issue.
Pain + urge but can’t pee + feeling cold = warning signs.
Get checked today. Don’t wait.
