Anyone experienced sciatica-like pain that flares before their period?

Apologies if this isn’t the right place to post this. But I’m hoping someone can give me some information about cyclical sciatica? I feel like I’m going mad but I’ve getting back pain that resembles sciatica exactly (better laid certain ways, radiating down hips and legs, worse on movement). It’s honestly unbearable at times, then it just goes. I’ve been tracking the pain and it’s always in the week before my period. At its worst I’ve been bed bound and knocked sick (literally) by the pain.

if anyone has any information on how to get help with this I’d really appreciate it, I thought I can manage because it’s just once a month but it’s started to really get me down and impact my life quite considerably.

thank you

I always get lower back pain in the week before my period but not as bad as that. Id go to your GP and explain what you've said here and what they'd recommend. Would probably be what is normally done for sciatica. Don't know what that is as I've never been seen for it

Yes. I had endometriosis lesion wrapped around the sciatic nerve. Menopause and aromatase inhibitors have cured it. It became much worse with HRT due to accelerated fibroid growth pressing on the nerve ( the HRT evangelists don’t warn you about that one). But after breast cancer diagnosis I had to come off HRT and take hormone blockers and da da! sciatica is now no more.

Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked by a gynaecologist to see if endometriosis is present. I had sciatica like you describe and it was linked to my periods, the cause in my case was endometriosis.
