Hi, this is a bit of a daft question but I have a breast clinic appointment tomorrow, probably a mammogram, will i have to just remove my top half of clothing, wear a gown if a gown remove bottom part of clothing?

It sounds really daft but I am in winter phase still at the monent and am debating if I should dig out my epilator!

Thanks!

I had a routine screening mammogram last week. Just took off jumper, tee shirt and bra.

I wore a crop top bra and just pulled it down when I was at the machine. No gown or anything.

In the past I have taken my bra and t shirt off and then put a cardigan back on until the very last minute.

I usually do t-shirt and jumper and go braless (but i have small breasts that don't need much support) as they are easy to remove.

I am having similar thoughts about what should I wear for a shoulder examination tomorrow. There is no way I can wear a bra, but what if they want a closer examination than through clothes? I live alone, so I don't really have a choice, as I am currently functionally one armed, hence the appointment. It'll probably be elasticated waist trousers and t-shirt out of what I'm capable of currently.

Thank you for the replies!

EBearhug - could you wear a vest top instead of a tshirt so your shoulder and surrounding area is effectively exposed?

Yes, that is a good idea. I have to dig out my summer wardrobe.

Wear something easy to take on and off. Also, they’ve seen it all before so try not to worry. Hope it all Goes ok for you.

If you are having a mammogram you will have to have your arms up at some point so if you are self conscious about your pits you may want to defuzz.

It is a bit uncomfortable and you do have to stretch into different positions but it doesn't take long.

Thanks everyone, not sure what is going to be happening at app - breast pain being investigated and I'm 45 so no prev mammogram experience.

I've got comfy leggings, big loose shirt to pop off and de fuzzed pits as a treat.

Thank you for all the helpful replies for what seemed a daft question!

Regular (50+ mammograms) at a mobile unit: small changing room, remove all top half clothing, straight into mammogram bit, back into changing room. I don't actually remember whether there were gowns.

Breast clinic: individual rooms for each consultation (mammogram, physical exam, ultrasound & biopsy), just stripped off top half in each room and put back on when done.

Basically, easily removable top half clothing. You shouldn't need to remove any bottom half clothing.

Hope it is all easily resolved for you.

Cross posted with your response, attire sounds ideal.

Would also suggest taking a couple of paracetamol and hour before the appointment. Personally I found it mildly uncomfortable but some women find it more so and taking pain relief beforehand can't hurt.
