At wits end with discharge

I’m at my wits end with weeks and weeks of uncomfortable thick discharge sometimes watery. I have seen a gyno, had all sorts of swabs - everything has come back clear - and the only thing they saw was a very small polyp. They are going to scan again in a couple
of weeks and if it’s still there I’ll get it removed. I’m going to start hrt next week as having other peri symptoms so wondered if that might help in case it’s hormonal . But I honestly don’t know where to go with this as every yeast, bv, ureaplasma etc is clear! It definitely feels and is worse some days more than others. I’m taking a probiotic etc and don’t wash with any soaps down there etc…..anyone with anything like this please give me hope I’ll eventually figure it out!

You could do a private test with a company called Digital Microbiology - they are very good (expensive though).

I had a condition called Aerobic Vaginitis so you could look that up and see if it fits with what you are experiencing.

My DD swabbed clear for BV several times but the hospital consultant decided to treat for it on the off chance as they had run out of ideas. First course helped enormously, second course cleared it. Tests aren't infallible.

• Just to update this - in case it’s helpful. I had a hysteroscopy this week for a polyp which actually had already disappeared- but they noticed cervical ectropion so this could well be the cause for the discharge. I have had several examinations and no one has mentioned this before.

Just to update again - I’m still suffering. Absolutely at a complete loss and can’t understand how no one can help me - I just can’t be the only person to have this problem. I’ve had another microbiome test since June and the only thing they can suggest is I have too much crispatus which can cause shedding and that’s the discharge as it’s too acidic. But baking soda doesn’t seem to be helping. If anyone can suggest anything I’d be so so grateful as I’m utterly miserable and fed up and don’t know where to go or who to turn too next. I just want to feel normal again

I'm sorry you're having trouble OP. How old are you? If over 40 it could be related to vaginal atrophy / GSM. Vaginal estrogen could help.

I’m 43. I did try it at the beginning of the year for about 6 weeks - but I didn’t feel any better

@keeponplodding7 how are you? I am exactly the same!!!! So much discharge! I also have a polyp and I swear this is the cause of it! Because apparently they leak fluid mucus! Xx

Sorry to hear that. I wish I could be more positive but still no better. The only time I get relief is when I’m on my period. They thought I had a polyp but when they went to remove it it was already gone.

Have you tried a steriod cream for the burning ? I’ve been given some so just waiting to try it! Its so weird how this just happens! I’m so over it 😩😩 xx

No I haven’t….whats it called - do you have to get it from the GP? It’s just rubbish!

It’s called Betamethasone cream. My GP prescribed it. Its a very strong steroid cream but I read online it helps people with burning, itching , red and inflamed skin in that area. My gp couldn’t see anything unusual down below, but she did say could be the start of like Lichen sclerosus. I keep thinking it’s my hormones! But who knows. Did you get any pain with the polyp? I have pelvic and lower back pain xx

No pain - I only found out as I went to a gynocologist who checked for it. My skin isn’t red or inflamed but I do have a burning feeling. The microbiome is a private test - i did one with Juno bio and checks your vaginal microbiome in a much more detailed way then a gp. All types of yeast, bv , all bacteria’s basically. That’s how I know I have no active infection so we aren’t sure why I’m getting it. I’ve started the mini pill now and I’m trying out some herbs from a naturopath……

Mine fluctuates during my cycle and is particularly heavy before, during and just after ovulation. It’s getting worse as I’m edging closer to peri.

one lots of swabs I had on the 15/09 were negative for everything else but positive for b v I took antibiotics but still the same. I really hope u get answers :( I also read that amitriptyline can help with the burning sensation xx

It’s very useful - yes I’ve tried to cover every aspect now trying the mini pill. I’m 43 so wonder if this is where it all starts to get rocky! I’ve never had a positive bv test so it’s a real mystery
