Breast Lumps

Hi all

I have had breast cysts for around 6 years - some years I’ve just been to the breast clinic once a year but other years I have been several times. I last went 9 months ago and was told I have many cysts in both breasts.
I have just found a new lump. This one is large, close to the surface and feels more like an oval shape than a round shape. When sitting/laying in some positions it doesn’t feel smooth. It’s not the only lump in there - I can feel many. Some I remember have been checked but others I have no idea. There are too many to track.

I went to the gp today and have been referred to the breast clinic. As always they didn’t give much reassurance (I understand they can’t say what it is without a scan) but this just adds to my anxiety.

Every single time I find one I become so worried and it takes over my life until it’s checked. I have no idea which ones are new and every single time they feel different/are in different locations. It’s really difficult to manage. Does anyone else have recurring breast cysts - do you struggle to manage this too or do you have any tips?

Thanks

I've got really lumpy breasts too, I'm about to call the GP to check out a new one I've found - I don't have any tips I'm afraid but solidarity! I was thinking of asking if I could start regular mammograms early on this basis (plus family history), perhaps that's one idea if you don't get them yet?

@Stillhere83 thanks for replying! Have yours always been cysts too?

I’m 34 so they say it’s too early for mammograms. I did ask whether I could have a regular scan though because I feel like if I knew I had one every so often this would give me more confidence but they said they don’t offer this for cysts and I would need to keep following the same process.

They've been a bit vague but yes fibroadenomas or cysts, I think you can only tell which with ultrasounds which they've never done.

Are they not giving you mammograms when they check them out? I've had a few including in my 20s. A medic I know has said I just have to keep asking for one every time and do it as much as I need, unfortunately.
