Advice on wigs and toppers for thinning hair after menopause

I hope this is the right section for advice. Due to menopause, thyroid, and weight changes my hair is very thin and whispy. I'm lookin for advice about wigs and toppers. Im wanting to buzz cut my hair for a reset but use a wig while it grows back. Where can I go? The ones I see online are lovely but more for younger people. Any advice welcome xx

I’d look for a local salon where you can try things on to find out what works for you. Toppers come with many different shapes that clip to your hair and some will be a better fit than others. I’m lucky that I get my toppers on prescription from a dermatologist and as I’m in Scotland don’t pay for prescriptions. I’d definitely recommend a topper over a wig if you still have enough natural hair to attach it to as it’s cooler and less obvious. Good luck in finding something that works for you.

Hi there,

Here is some info about wigs I put together for a friend and also posted to the Reddit /Wigs forum that I hope you will find helpful to start you on your way.

Firstly, good sellers.
I have bought 3 x human hair wigs I am very happy with at great prices from the following seller on Etsy. Their customer service is excellent and their Etsy customer satisfaction shop rating is high as a result:
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WigSou
They are happy to customise any of their wig stock to come in a different hair colour or custom cap size for a small extra payment and Gina their representative who you correspond with is lovely and cannot do enough to make sure you are happy. All my human hair wigs came in at under £100 delivered to the UK which really is excellent.

I would also look at and buy from:
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/EnchantedWigStore
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WigCraving
although I have not done so already as both look to have good wig styles and high customer satisfaction shop ratings.

My other wigs came from mainstream vendors:
https://chiquel.com
https://www.wigoutlet.com; and
https://frannieshair.com
so I can certainly vouch for them. These carry a wide variety of stock from main wig brands and regularly run sale promotions with up to 70% off so it is unlikely that you will ever pay full market price for any wig you choose.

I would also trust/buy from:
https://www.simplywigs.co.uk/
which is UK based and hosts a wealth of great info on its website in addition to selling major wig brands.

Brand Influencers & learning
Amanda Hoblak the Chiquel representative is adorable and has lots of You Tube demo and info videos. Here is a link to a random one just so you can find her and explore Chiquel further from that.

I also follow Taz's Wig Closet

Frannie's Hair

and Godiva's Wigs

Again those are links to random videos from those influencers just to help you find them.

Finally there is the excellent Denise Sheets aka Hey Wig Sister. I am linking you to her New Wig Wearer Series which gives a wealth of information on just about everything to do with wigs so definitely get familiar with her.

Hope all of that helps but just shout if you need anything else. 💖 x
