Tube like lump in breast

Hello, i found a tube like lump in my breast, not painful and roughly 2inches long, kinda like a straw consistency. Ive been to see the doctor who has referred me to 2 week wait. He said its not a typical lump but there is something.
Anyone had anything like this and turned out positive, 2 weeks is going to feel like a really long time.

You've done the right thing. That ropey feeling breast tissue is usually just that and often hormonal. 9 out of 10 breast lumps and bumps are benign. But breast care has come a long way and these things are always checked out now.
Hope you are ok OP X

Thank you. Im hoping its nothing serious, im hoping its hormal. Just trying not to Google.

Yep I did! Still do. I was told it would go away once I finished breastfeeding but it's still there. But the upshot is that it's just hormonal changes, in my case caused by pregnancy and feeding. Feels like stretched out slightly hard chewing gum.

I'm not really sure what you mean by tube like? I had something which felt like a 1cm wide rope, lying width ways across my breast and about 10cm long. Painfree, no discolouration on the skin, no puckering etc.

I too saw GP and was eventually seen at the breast clinic. GP said many breast issues are due to wearing the wrong bra! By the time I got to the breast clinic, it had completely gone! It was more than 2 weeks due to an admin error their end. They did a mammogram then an ultrasound. After googling, I'd assumed it was fibrocystic, but the consultant disagreed. I really can't recall the diagnosis, but basically nothing to worry about, it resolved and only come back if I have further issues. Wishing you all the best. x

Kinda like a straw, not as bit or wide as a drinking straw, tube like feeling. Not a typical lump not round or anything. Hard to describe.

Fibrocystic, I wondered about that.
Glad yours has gone . X

Makes me feel slightly better knowing others have similar and all OK

Yes me! I noticed it Easter 2025 & my GP said to keep a check on it for a month. Obviously I wasn’t happy with that & fortunately my DH has healthcare through work so I went private. I had a mammogram & an ultrasound and he said it’s hormonal related tissue change & it should settle.
it did settle a bit but didn’t completely disappear so in Jan this year I went back. He suggested an MRI & I had another ultrasound and confirmed the same. I’ve actually decided to go back annually for mammograms just for peace of mind.

please try not to worry it seems to be quite common but definitely worth getting it checked. Good luck.

HattiesBag · 05/03/2026 21:34

Are you certain it isn't a vein OP? I got worried once but when I checked in the mirror, there was a slight blue tinge and I realised it was a big vein. Felt like a squishy straw.

smilingatthesun · 05/03/2026 21:40

No not a vein, doctor could feel it too. Ill keep this post updated. So where I am usually seen within a week doctor said, but obviously im expecting 2 weeks as thats the pathway im on. If that makes sense

I had exactly what you describe. Turned out to be nothing. Best of luck, I am sure you will be fine x

ismiledather · 05/03/2026 21:51

I had one. I could see it. Was scanned/ mammogram. It was nothing.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 05/03/2026 22:05

I had one come up just under my skin last year, I only noticed it when swimming. It felt rock hard but very tubular. GP wasn't worried, thought it was a cyst and that it would burst and just said to keep an eye on it. He did say he'd refer me if I was worried, but I was due a mammogram anyway so went about 4 months later. It's still there but it is a lot smaller.

smilingatthesun · 05/04/2026 19:57

Ive had a scan, nothing sinister, hormonal growth.
