Best contraception for peri menopause

babylone · 04/03/2026 19:14

Im 50yo and recently became active again. For the past ten years i had no contraception at all (no need forit) and before this i was on themirena coul for about 10 years.
i have no idea what is best nowadays? Patches? Minipill?coul again? New things? Injection?
no idea how will it affect my hormones. Say i go back to mirena coil then my periods are likely to disappear for the next 5 years. Wwill it delay my menopause? My apologies if these are basic questions, i literally have no idea… tia

i would say go with the mirena coil again. It can be used for the progesterone component of hrt if you want to go down that route. It won’t delay menopause

Mirena is excellent. Won’t delay menopaus and counts as progesterone part of hrt

Ah great thanks. I dont have symptoms yet but its good to know themirena could counts towards HRT
