How do you know when it’s the right time to start HRT? Is there a benefit to holding off or is it better to start it sooner?

I would say sooner rather than later. I left it until my periods stopped for three months. In the six months covering this period, inhave been diagnosed with urinary infections and bladder issues caused by low oestrogen, breast cysts caused by low oestrogen and breast tissue changing and very low mood. Have started hrt now but rally wish I had started when my periods were stupid heavy anojt two years earlier.

Another vote for sooner rather than later, and if you can afford to do a consulation and initial prescription with a private clinic, do so. They will then liase with your GP and you can move over to the NHS without a battle.

Are there any disadvantages to starting sooner?

Thank you for tip on private clinic!
