Weird period - any ideas?

I've had a long cycle, took a test on the day my period was due (negative) and then seemingly got my period. I had about 24hrs normal heavy bleeding, then it stopped for pretty much 24hrs and now I'm getting a small amount of brown blood. I usually get a period for around 5 days so not sure what is going on?

How many days have you been bleeding for? It's normal for it to be brown towards the end as it's dried. But it could be a very early MC if you had unprotected sex in that timeframe.
If it hasn't stopped visit GP or gybnae?

I would probably do another test in a few days to be sure if you don’t have a normal period. But sometimes there is just an odd one. If you don’t ovulate in a cycle, often in the end the body gives up trying, you get a bleed and then start again. Those bleeds can be lighter than a normal period because the womb lining did not build up in the same way.
