HRT bleed- take progesterone tonight or not?

i started hrt Thurs 12 Feb which was my day 16 of an average 26 day but variable cycle, to take 1 pump O daily and 200g P days 1-14. So I’m on day 11 of this which would have been my due date and a light bleed started. I will check in with GP tomorrow, it doesn’t seem urgent enough for 111, but tonight, do I skip to the O only part of the cycle because I’ve bled, or take P as prescribed despite bleeding?

I don't understand why you are talking about checking with the GP or 111? It's totally normal to get spotting when you change hormonal medication. What are you worried is happening? Take the progesterone as you've been prescribed it and stop worrying.

Normal for some bleed in my experience - hormonal changes do happen and do bleed. Keep a diary if you’re concerned and adjustment of dosage might be needed.

Thanks for replying. I thought because it’s cyclical HRT with P in second half, and period has come, that that makes me in first half of cycle now so O only. Because the purpose of P is to cause a bleed and I already bled?

The purpose of progesterone is to protect your endometrium not to cause bleeding. Take it as prescribed.

I stopped taking wonderful progesterone last April. No problems.

As a PP said, progesterone is prescribed to protect the lining of your womb from the effects of estrogen. You must take it and it’s very normal for your natural cycle, if you still have one, not to line up exactly with the hrt hormones (I.e. for a bleed to start immediately after stopping progesterone). Mine still doesn’t after four months. You just need to do two weeks on/ two weeks off of the progesterone regardless of what your natural cycle is doing.
