I'm 47 and a couple of years ago the GP said i was probably in the perimenopause. My periods have been erratic for a few years. Sometimes missing for a couple of months or every 3 weeks. Last a couple of days and light. Waking in the night roasting, hot flushes in the day. Smears up to date and no HPV.

Past few months while having sex im bleeding. Bright red blood. Stops quickly. I' m phoning the doctor tomorrow. Is this likely to be an age thing ? Slightly worried its not.

Might be worth looking at Ectropion Cervix? It's a harmless thing that can be quite common and cause this. They told me I had it at my last smear. Still check with your GP of course but there is a good chance it could be nothing to worry about.

I had the same at similar age and was sent for tests. I had CIN3 cells and i had a lltez procedure to remove them. all ok now.
I also had regular smears and no hpv.
I find it concerning that they only test for hpv now and not look at actual cells unless hpv positive.
Anyway go to GP asap they will examine you and refer you.
Its likely something completely and easily treatable.
Good luck

I had this and they did a colposcopy. I had C1N and needed nothing but a follow up a year later. I don’t have HPV.

She said I had some tiny cysts, but there were harmless and fairly normal. Definitely get it checked out

I get this with cervical ectropian.

This comment with your username did make me chuckle!

Please get it checked out by the GP - I’m a bit older than you & recently had a large growth on my cervix. Thankfully benign, it caused bleeding like yours & was only going to get worse. All fine after minor surgery. Get it checked.

Got seen this morning. GP said it looks like ectropian cervix and bits look inflamed.
She's referred me to gynaecology.
Another joy of the perimenopause !
