Flying with the coil

I got the coil inserted in November. I had constant spotting until January, which got heavier in Dec and Jan when my period would have been. But really not much at all.

I had a terrible experience a few years ago, when I flew two days after my period finished. It returned while I was on the plane and I had to change my trousers. That never happened before (or since), and my sister said it was due to flying.

I‘m flying long haul later this year. Has anyone found that flying trigger bleeding when you have the coil? I‘m not sure if I need to take precautions or not

Is it the Mirena? If so, I've had it for 10+ years and never noticed a difference after flying! Only my experience, of course - I'd take some pads in your bag just in case if that's a thing for you.

Yes it’s Mirena. That’s reassuring, thanks.

No issues at all, I flew 3 weeks after fitting too.

I always wear a pair of period pants on a plane. Just in case!

I'm post meno BTW but had recent gynae surgery that still hasn't fully settled things down and probably won't for ages.
