Endometrial ablation experiences!

i had my gynaecology appointment yesterday due to having the most horrendous periods for the last 4 years. I had a scan which showed thickened womb lining and polyps! I had an internal examimation (like a smear) at my appointment and the consultant has recommended a hysteroscopy under GA due to my cervix being very closed ( her words) which she said would be painful for me to have done with LA. We discussed treatment options and alongside the hysteroscopy she is going to take a biopsy, remove all my polyps and do an ablation! I’m extremely happy that I was listened to and not pressured into having any procedures done whilst awake but since coming home and researching I’ve read that ablations should not be done until after a biopsy has been taken and results come back. I did ask if she thought my lining etc could be due to anything untoward such as The C word etc and she said in her opinion no. She did say that if anything looked not right during the hysteroscopy then the ablation would not be done. Has anyone else had anything similar? And what was the outcome after your ablation how were your periods and pms symptoms after! Thank x

This is my problem I have had low ferritin for the last 3-4 years and it’s never been above 15 at one point it was 4.4! I cant leave the house some months on the 2nd day of my period as it’s just horrendous! I leak through my clothes etc. the only thing that concerns me is what my pms is going to be like as essentially if I done have a period how will my body know to start a new cycle! I’m hoping it does not make it worse

Your hormones will cycle in the same way. You’ll still get whatever symptoms you get now but without the heavy bleeding.

My periods were short but ridiculously heavy, i was losing what felt like pints of blood in about 48 hours. I remember being taught at school that an average woman loses about an egg cup of blood during a period.. LOL! When you use an egg cup sized mooncup that’s overflowing every half an hour for 2 straight days, use maternity pads, and and you still have to use incontinence mats on your furniture you know that’s absolute bulllshit.

Do it , you won’t regret it for a second

Hey all just thought I would update you all! Had the eblation on Monday everything went well although I didn’t expect to have such bad cramps it was like I was in labour 😩. No pain at all since feel very bloated and struggling to go to the loo (no 2), I’ve also had no bleeding? Just a light tan discharge, I expected bleeding, did anyone else not have any bleeding?

No bleeding after mine.

I hope you feel better soon. Do you know if you were given any sort of opiate pain relief? That can slow things down.
