Desogestral and bleeding

I have been on this mini pill for nearly 9 months now and my periods haven’t settled, I don’t have bleeding every day but every 4 weeks or so it feels like my normal period it’s not heavy but not light enough for no pads I need to wear a pad but hardly anything on pad I just get a bit heavy burst of blood in morning then slow down during day and this happens for a few days every month - I’m concerned it’s something sinister but I’ve had a lot of scans and tests drs saying some people just bleed still so not sure whether to just put up with it or change to something else?
anyone have the bleeding after long use?

I had to see gynaecology due to bleeding issues. They suggested double dosing (one morning and one evening) and it worked!

Yes thinking of speaking to dr or gynae to see if they recommend that as heard some people double dose and maybe the 75mg isn’t enough

I’m having similar issues to you. I’ve been on Desogestrel for 10 months after having my first baby, and I’m still experiencing frequent spotting multiple times per month. I used it before pregnancy and had no bleeding after the first 6 weeks of taking it, until I stopped to conceive. The spotting I get now is so so light and I don’t have to use sanitary products but like you I’m concerned there’s an underlying issue. My GP is adamant it’s just a side effect of the pill, my last smear was fine so it can’t possibly be anything else as it wouldn’t present this way. They only offer alternative contraception methods! I think I’m going to come off the pill and see what my natural cycles are like.

I have just had a colposcopy after an abnormal smear. I had a baby last summer and went back on minipill in Nov. I have bleeding a bit like yourself but mine has been a bit all over the place (assume due to pregnancy) and the colposcist* said to speak to gp or family planning as shouldn't really be bleeding on it. Now I have taken it for years and different brands. Back when you used to get cerazette brand I had no bleeding, although they say they are all the same just a different brand. Any other brand I've had bleeding. I think I'm going to speak to gp as she worried me a bit tbh despite it saying in the literature that you can have bleeding.

yes it’s so frustrating the dr told me it’s normal and to go on mirena coil but they said that it will cause bleeding the first few months and don’t wana go through more bleeding
the bleeding has become less and seems to be once a month now so like a period which I may be one of the few people that still bleeds on it id rather have one bleed than all over the place on a new contraception, I’ve had all scans smears colposcopy hysterocropy ultrasounds even an mri the lot!! (They found a polyp which has been removed but it was small)
I’m on desogestral what are you on @cocoloco12

Been on it a few years now but still only manage maybe 2 months with no bleeding at all but then have a 3 weeks period which is shit

It's reassuring that it your smears etc have been fine! I'm. On desogestrel too, brand Lovima. I'm convinced it's a brand thing though they say it isn't! I believe Cerzette is the dearer one so they don't prescribe it as often now. It's been the only desogestrel which I haven't bled.

Just wanted to update on my situation as spoke with the family planning nurse. She advised to wait on my colposcopy results but also get an std test (despite being with husband almost 10 years) just to rule everything out. I mentioned the other brand and she said that could be the case with different brands and bleeding and to ask my GP if I can have that one, although more expensive so maybe not. Otherwise I can stay on this pilland have the bleeding but she said you shouldn't have to deal with the unpredictable nature of it! Also said could look at other methods - coil etc but I'd prefer not to do that!
